III. Physical and Mechanical Properties of 7031 Nonwoven Fabric
1. Packaging: Each roll of nonwoven fabric is wrapped in a plastic film, then an outer waterproof woven bag. The ends of the core are sealed with corresponding plastic cores. The inner tube is a 1.8cm thick high-pressure paper tube.
2. Marking: The outer packaging bag should be marked with the manufacturer, product name, model, specifications, batch number, net weight, production date, etc.
3. Storage: 7031 nonwoven fabric should be stored in a cool, dry, clean, and well-ventilated warehouse below 40℃. It should not be near fire sources or heating, and should not be exposed to direct sunlight. The shelf life is one year.
IV. Scope of application:
Widely used in composite materials (DMD, DM, DMDM), mica tape reinforcing materials, electrical laminates, insulating varnish cloth base fabric, and end wrapping of electrical appliances, transformers, and motor coils. It is also suitable for small and flexible cables, household electrical cables, communication optical cables, and can replace various types of paper insulation materials.
Nonwoven fabric is an engineered material made by bonding or interlocking fibers through chemical, mechanical, heat, or solvent treatment. Unlike traditional woven or knitted fabrics, nonwoven fabrics are produced directly from fibers, eliminating the weaving or knitting process. This unique production method provides nonwoven fabrics with exceptional versatility, uniformity, and functionality. Nonwoven fabrics are widely used across industries including hygiene, medical, filtration, automotive, packaging, construction, and industrial applications.
Nonwoven fabric offers several performance advantages such as high tensile strength, flexibility, excellent breathability, and customizable thickness and density. Its lightweight yet durable construction makes it an ideal material for applications requiring both protection and comfort. Depending on the fiber type and manufacturing process, nonwoven fabrics can be engineered for specialized properties such as flame retardancy, moisture resistance, thermal insulation, or filtration efficiency.
Modern nonwoven fabrics are made from synthetic fibers like polyester (PET), polypropylene (PP), and nylon, as well as natural fibers such as cotton, bamboo, or blends. Production methods include spunbond, melt-blown, needle punching, hydroentangling, and thermal bonding. These techniques allow manufacturers to design nonwoven fabrics that meet specific functional requirements for various industrial and consumer applications.
Nonwoven fabrics are increasingly valued for their environmental benefits. Many types are recyclable, energy-efficient to produce, and biodegradable when made from natural fibers. These characteristics align with global sustainability goals, making nonwoven fabric a key material in eco-conscious product development.
The performance of nonwoven fabric depends on its fiber composition, manufacturing method, and physical properties. Key parameters include:
Material Composition: Polyester, polypropylene, nylon, cotton, viscose, or blended fibers
Manufacturing Process: Spunbond, melt-blown, needle-punched, hydroentangled, or thermal bonded
Fabric Weight: Typically 10 g/m² – 500 g/m², adjustable for specific applications
Thickness: 0.1 mm – 5.0 mm, customizable for insulation, cushioning, or filtration
Tensile Strength: High longitudinal and transverse strength for mechanical stability
Elongation: Flexible to prevent tearing under stress
Air Permeability: Adjustable for filtration and breathability requirements
Moisture Absorption: Low to moderate depending on fiber type
Thermal Resistance: Can withstand temperatures up to 150°C, depending on fibers
Flame Retardancy: Optional flame-resistant variants available
Color: Natural white, grey, or customized colors
Eco Compliance: Recyclable and compliant with RoHS, REACH, or other environmental standards
These parameters allow nonwoven fabrics to be tailored to meet diverse requirements in hygiene, medical, industrial, and consumer products.

Proper handling and installation of nonwoven fabric ensures optimal performance:
Cutting and Shaping:
Use sharp scissors, rotary cutters, or laser cutters for precise edges. Avoid stretching or pulling to maintain fiber alignment.
Layering and Lamination:
For insulation, filtration, or protective applications, layer sheets as required. Adhesive bonding or heat lamination may be used to enhance strength.
Cleaning:
Keep fabrics clean and free from dust, oil, or chemical contamination. Use soft brushes or compressed air for surface cleaning.
Storage:
Store rolls in a dry, ventilated area away from sunlight, moisture, or extreme temperatures to prevent degradation.
Safety Precautions:
Wear gloves when handling large rolls to avoid injury. When cutting or processing, avoid inhaling fine fibers; although generally non-toxic, some synthetic fibers may irritate the skin or respiratory system.
Q1: What makes nonwoven fabric different from woven or knitted fabrics?
A1: Nonwoven fabrics are produced by bonding fibers directly, without weaving or knitting. This allows for faster production, uniformity, and customization for specific performance characteristics such as filtration, insulation, or softness.
Q2: Can nonwoven fabric be customized?
A2: Yes. Manufacturers can adjust weight, thickness, fiber type, surface treatment, color, and flame-retardant properties according to application requirements.
Q3: Is nonwoven fabric flame-retardant?
A3: Standard nonwoven fabrics may not be inherently flame-retardant. However, flame-resistant or fire-retardant variants can be produced for safety-critical applications.
Q4: How durable is nonwoven fabric compared to traditional materials?
A4: Nonwoven fabric offers excellent tensile strength, dimensional stability, and resistance to moisture, chemicals, and abrasion. While lightweight, it is often more durable than paper-based or low-quality woven materials.
Q5: Is nonwoven fabric environmentally friendly?
A5: Many nonwoven fabrics are recyclable, biodegradable (if made from natural fibers), and produced with energy-efficient processes. Compliance with RoHS and REACH standards ensures minimal environmental impact.
Q6: Can nonwoven fabric be used in medical and hygiene products?
